Think about your current helmet; now imagine it lighter, with a more comfortable fit system, better ventilation, and improved side impact protection. That is what the Lazer Z1 offers. Building on a long tradition of innovation, Lazer decided to combine all elements of a high-performance helmet and push each feature as far as possible. It is the lightest helmet Lazer ever made without sacrificing style, safety, or comfort. The Z1 sports the looks of a contemporary high-performance road helmet with an integrated wing on the top of the helmet.

Additionally the MIPS system adds an additional safety aspect by introducing a low friction layer into the helmet. This layer can move relative to the helmet helping to absorb the rotational forces in case of a crash. This does not interfere with the existing protective capabilities of the helmet, it just adds to them.

MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) is a revolutionary technology, providing protection with respect to angled impacts.

MIPS is a patented protection system and comes from years of studying the human brain. The brain is surrounded by cerebrospinal fluid that protects it by allowing it to slide when exposed to an angled impact. Mimicking the cerebrospinal fluid, MIPS creates a sliding layer between the helmet and the head. This reduces the rotational force otherwise transmitted to the brain. The combination of the brainís own protection and MIPS provides better protection from angled impacts. MIPS can be utilized in any helmet and does not interfere or take away from any other technical features, safety aspects, comfort or design.

MIPS was developed by some of the worldís leading researchers in biomechanics and neuroscience at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. The result is helmets offering enhanced safety and protection from rotational forces to the brain

Conventional helmet testing is done by dropping them vertically onto a flat surface. MIPS is designed for reality, reflecting how most accidents occur, with angled impacts to the head. By using the low friction layer, MIPS can absorb more of the energy from an angled blow to the head.

Lazer and MIPS have been partners since 2013 and colaborated on the first ever inmolded helmet that featured the technology, the Lazer P'Nut MIPS helmet. Since then the MIPS system has been available throughout the Lazer range.

Look for the yellow MIPS logo on the helmets to ensure that you are wearing a helmet with MIPS technology!

The fit of a helmet is important and adjusting this fit to your individual need is of equal importance for the comfort level of a helmet. To achieve a good fit Lazer has installed the ARS or Advanced Rollsys System in the helmet. The ARS is an upgraded version of the award-winning Rollsys System.

Compared to the standard fit systems, the Advanced Rollsys system is a fully integrated mechanism which surrounds the head completely. By turning a smooth thumb wheel situated on top of the helmet, the system permits an accurate and progressive peripheral sizing adjustment. The fit of the helmet will be symmetrically tightened without any pressure points on the head.

The Advanced Rollsys System offers an innovative one-hand use and is easy to handle even during riding. By taking away the retention system at the back, the Advanced Rollsys System is also the perfect solution for people with a ponytail.

The adjustable head basket allows the back part of the rollsys system (that grips the back of the head) to move up and down depending on the riders preference. This way the Rollsys system can be adjusted even more to individual rider needs and can create even more comfort.

All helmets are designed to be safe, but Lazer helmets are also designed to be fast. That is why our helmets are tested in wind tunnel facilities. They go through a varienty of tests to measure the aerodynamic performance and improve it where possible.

Lazer helmets are tested in a specifically designed vent tunnel. This test measures the amount of air that is flowing over the head and in which specifc areas. That way we can effectively measure the ventilation a helmet offers. Based on this testing, we adjust the vent position and size of the vents to make sure we create products with good ventilation to make sure you can perform at top level.
